TEACHERS: Have you ever purchased a book for a student that you cannot wait to finish? Have you been asked by a parent for a reputable list of piano tuners? We can help you!

We will have a new section in the upcoming newsletters to assist our teachers and their students in finding the best books and other resources. We need teachers to submit to Sandy Fong via email or mail, their favorite (or not so favorite) books, piano tuners, CDs, music stores, online sites to purchase music books etc.

It will be helpful to other teachers if you can include a few sentences as to why you enjoy (or didn’t enjoy) your selection. If you wish to remain anonymous, please make a note of that in your submission.

Student Recitals

The deadline for corrections and changes for the
January 23rd recital is January 17. Entry deadline for the February 13th recital is January 30. The deadline for corrections and changes is February 7.

With the recital dates closer to CM evaluations, I foresee a bigger number of entries. Each recital is allotted only 90 minutes. If I see that programs go beyond that time, I may have to ask some of you to reduce the number of your performing students. I am flexible about the Guideline limiting each student to 5-minute playing time becausewe want to hear advanced pieces which are mostly more than 5 minutes long. If you have students playing such pieces, please reduce the total number of your students to give other teachers' students a chance to play.

Before you submit your students' names, please ask them if they have conflicting commitments on the recitaldate. We don't want students leaving right after their numbers. This is an opportunity to give them the message that recitals are not to be taken lightly.

Call me if you need entry forms. Please print clearly and fill up the forms completely. Sometimes, I had to call teachers for Opus Nos. and Sonata movements. Changes, with the exception of cancellations, will not be made after the deadline. Program construction is a tedious job requiring great care and creativity. Happy Holidays to all.
