Letter from the Editor

I would like to thank all the members of the board and directors for their support and feedback on the newsletter. We were able to add several new features to the newsletter this past year. Two prominent features are digital pictures and paid advertising.

Regarding paid advertising, I would like to remind teachers that I will screen the ads before submitting them into the newsletter. All advertisements must be music related. It is a tremendous effort for me to take care of so many advertising requests and therefore I must be selective which ads will be placed.

We look to our future and the Internet. Soon we will have our own MTAC Southern Alameda Branch website. I plan to publish all newsletters on the web including past publications. This will be an excellent venue for publishing updates, error corrections and changes.

I would like to thank all the hard working volunteers doing everything behind the scenes to make this organization run smoothly. This includes everybody you see listed on the front page of the newsletter. I would especially like to thank Gloria Ho for sending me the CM News on schedule every month. Thanks to Sandy Fong for coordinating the interesting Book Reviews and all the members that provided these to her.

I would like to remind members that any time you request something to be published in the newsletter, please try and have it published at least two months ahead of time. If I forget the first time, I will make a point not to forget the next. The busiest time for me starts from October and runs into the end of March. I do get overwhelmed sometimes and often forget to add things. Not only am I wrapped up with Certificate of Merit, but I also have to Chair the Composers Today, which occupy my time from October until April. And to add to my responsibilities, I will be Webmaster for our new website. (If anybody is interested in relieving me from some of these responsibilities, please give me a call.)

Anyways, looking forward to a new season. Hope to meet you at future general meetings.
